The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has unveiled a 16-member squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh, with Shan Masood continuing as captain. The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle and is scheduled to take place in Dhaka and Sylhet next month.

The first Test will be played from May 8 to 12 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, followed by the second Test from May 16 to 20 in Sylhet. The squad reflects a mix of experienced players and emerging talent, as selectors aim to strengthen Pakistan’s red-ball performance.

Notably, four uncapped playersAbdullah Fazal, Amad Butt, Azan Awais, and Muhammad Ghazi Ghori have been included, indicating a focus on building bench strength and testing new combinations. Meanwhile, established players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, and Imam-ul-Haq remain key components of the lineup.

Several players, including Azan Awais, Noman Ali, and Sajid Khan, are currently participating in a red-ball training camp at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore. The full squad will assemble in Karachi on April 27 for a preparatory camp before departing for Bangladesh on May 2.

In a significant development, former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has been appointed as head coach for the tour. He will be supported by Asad Shafiq as batting coach and Umar Gul as bowling coach. The new coaching setup reflects PCB’s strategy to bring experienced former players into leadership roles.

Players involved in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will join the squad after completing their commitments. The series is expected to provide Pakistan an important opportunity to gain early momentum in the World Test Championship and test new talent in challenging overseas conditions.
