Pakistan, Canada Agree to Strengthen Trade and Economic Ties
On the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar held a meeting with Canada’s Foreign Minister Anita Anand.

The two ministers welcomed recent positive momentum in bilateral relations and agreed to further deepen economic and trade cooperation.

During the meeting, both sides also acknowledged the valuable role of the Pakistani diaspora in Canada, highlighting their contribution as a strong link between the two countries.

Earlier, Ishaq Dar addressed a high-level event marking the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women. In his remarks, he recalled the vision of Pakistan’s founding father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who believed that no nation could progress unless women stood side by side with men.

The foreign minister also underscored the significant leadership roles women have played in Pakistan, including the election of the first woman prime minister in the Muslim world and, more recently, the appointment of the first woman chief minister of Punjab.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to advancing the agenda of women’s empowerment and ensuring their active participation in all spheres of national life.
