The Power Division spokesperson has said that electricity supply across Pakistan has shown noticeable improvement during peak hours, with better generation and grid stability helping reduce load management durations.

According to the spokesperson, electricity supply remained stable during last night’s peak demand period. He stated that 5,125 megawatts of electricity were generated from dams due to increased water discharge, contributing significantly to meeting national demand.

He added that an additional 400 megawatts were successfully transmitted from the southern region to the central grid, improving overall system stability. As a result, distribution companies only carried out load management for around one to two hours in limited areas.

The spokesperson further said that if liquefied natural gas (LNG) becomes consistently available, peak-time load management could be eliminated entirely. He noted that due to LNG shortages, power plants with a combined capacity of around 5,500 megawatts are currently unable to generate electricity, putting pressure on the system.

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) said that in the LESCO region, electricity demand stood at 2,421 megawatts while supply reached 2,550 megawatts, resulting in no significant shortfall between demand and supply.

He added that due to improved supply conditions, load management was limited to one to two hours in certain areas. However, load management is currently restricted mainly to feeders with high line losses, and is being used as a technical measure to maintain system stability and balance supply with demand.

Officials emphasized that ongoing improvements in generation, transmission, and fuel availability could further stabilize the power system in the coming days, reducing the need for scheduled outages.
