Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban for Indian Airlines by Another Month

Islamabad: Pakistan has extended its airspace closure for Indian airlines for another month. The ban, originally enforced on April 23,

According to sources, the continued closure of Pakistani airspace has cost Indian airlines an estimated PKR 8 billion in just one month. A significant portion of this loss — around PKR 5 billion — is due to increased fuel consumption caused by longer alternate routes.

In addition, Indian carriers have incurred an extra PKR 3 billion in expenses due to mandatory stopovers and delays on extended flight paths.

Pakistan had initially closed its airspace to Indian aircraft, citing political and security concerns. Since then, several Indian international flights have had to reroute, leading to operational and financial burdens.
