ISLAMABAD: Despite a political ceasefire between the ruling coalition partners, the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has raised serious concerns over the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) continued social media campaign targeting the PPP.

According to party sources, PPP leaders have alerted the top leadership about ongoing online propaganda allegedly orchestrated by PML-N supporters. The campaign reportedly focuses on criticizing the Sindh government and appears aimed at creating an anti-PPP narrative, especially in Punjab.

PPP insiders say the matter will be formally addressed in the party’s upcoming Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting. Leaders have suggested raising the issue through official political channels to maintain coalition harmony.

This comes despite an earlier agreement between President Asif Ali Zardari and the PML-N leadership to avoid public attacks and hostile statements. The truce was reportedly mediated by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who played a key role in de-escalating tensions.

Recently, both parties had engaged in a public war of words over sensitive issues such as flood compensation and water distribution rights in the Cholistan Canal project. Although top leadership from both sides called for calm, the rift has re-emerged online.

PPP leaders argue that the ongoing social media attacks violate the spirit of the agreement and could harm coalition unity if left unaddressed.
