Punjab Imposes 14-Year Jail and Heavy Fine for Illegal Weapons

The Punjab government has approved stricter punishment for possessing illegal weapons. Anyone caught with illegal arms can now face up to 14 years in jail and a fine of up to 2 million rupees. This strict action is part of a wider crackdown on crime and aims to improve law and order in the province.
According to officials, keeping illegal weapons will now be considered a non-bailable offense. This means that those arrested for it cannot easily get bail from the court. Authorities believe this step will help reduce the number of weapons circulating without proper checks.

In addition, the Punjab government has also banned the issuance of new weapon licenses. People who already have licensed weapons must register them at their local service center within a month. This is to ensure that all legal weapons are properly documented.
A one-month deadline has been given to citizens to surrender any illegal arms they possess. After this period, strict legal action will be taken. The Home Department urges people to follow the new rules to avoid punishment.

This move is part of a larger plan that includes action against illegal residents and businesses. A whistleblower system will also be introduced to report such activities. With these steps, the Punjab government hopes to create a safer environment by controlling illegal weapons and enforcing tough penalties.
