Pakistan Army Kills 50 Militants

MOHMAND – October 16, 2025: The Pakistan Army successfully thwarted a large-scale infiltration attempt by militants of the banned outfit Fitna al-Khawarij from across the Afghan border, eliminating between 45 and 50 terrorists in a decisive intelligence-based operation in Mohmand district.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the infiltration was detected through intelligence sources, prompting a swift and coordinated military response during the night between October 15 and 16. Surveillance footage had confirmed militant movement across the border, triggering a rapid counter-assault.

Troops surrounded the area, cutting off escape routes before launching the operation. A significant number of terrorists were neutralized, and the region was later cleared and secured. The ISPR noted that the militants had attempted to exploit a ceasefire atmosphere to spread violence in the border areas.

“Swift and Professional Response”

“Our vigilant soldiers acted swiftly and effectively, neutralizing the threat before it could materialize into an attack,” the ISPR said, praising the professionalism and readiness of the troops involved.

Three More Operations in KP Kill 34 Militants

In addition to the Mohmand operation, security forces carried out three separate intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — in North Waziristan, South Waziristan, and Bannu — eliminating 34 more militants in recent days.

In North Waziristan’s Spinwam area, 18 terrorists were killed in a fierce gun battle. Eight militants were taken out in South Waziristan, and another eight in Bannu. The operations targeted hideouts linked to cross-border networks and Indian-sponsored elements involved in recent attacks inside Pakistan.

Forces also destroyed multiple hideouts and recovered large stockpiles of weapons and explosives.

Militants Linked to Foreign-Sponsored Networks

Security officials revealed that many of the killed terrorists were part of cross-border proxy networks backed by hostile foreign elements and affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij. These groups have long been accused of plotting and executing attacks to destabilize Pakistan’s tribal belt and border regions.

“Enemies of Peace Cannot Succeed”

The ISPR reiterated the army’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism from Pakistani soil and protect its frontiers from any threat. “Enemies of Pakistan will never succeed in destabilizing the country. Our forces remain fully alert to respond to any provocation,” the statement declared.

Officials described the infiltration as a “betrayal under the guise of peace,” with militants attempting to regroup during a ceasefire agreed upon between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime.

48-Hour Ceasefire in Place

Earlier this week, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban had agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire starting 6 p.m. Wednesday. The agreement came after heightened tensions along the border and was aimed at resolving disputes through dialogue.

“The ceasefire has been decided by mutual consent at the request of the Taliban,” the Foreign Office said, adding that both sides will use the period to pursue a peaceful and lasting resolution.

The military, however, emphasized that while diplomatic efforts continue, any threat to national security would be met with force.

: Director General ISPR, Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has accused India of orchestrating and funding terrorism in Pakistan for the past two decades.

Speaking at a joint press conference with the Interior Secretary, the DG ISPR said concrete evidence has been presented to the United Nations and other international forums. He claimed that India not only finances terror networks but also plans and directs attacks, citing the recent Khuzdar school bus bombing as an example, which he said was carried out by the Indian-backed proxy network “Fitna-e-Hindustan.”
