Clinics on Boats
Lahore: On the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a unique health service titled “Clinics on Boats” has been launched for the first time in the province’s flood-affected regions.

Through this initiative, medical teams are reaching people stranded in areas accessible only by water, ensuring that women, children, and other victims receive timely healthcare.

According to officials, more than 968 “Clinics on Wheels” and medical relief camps have already been set up across flood-hit districts. Doctors and medical staff are actively working in these camps, with special arrangements for women, including prenatal check-ups, multivitamins, sanitary kits, and other essential supplies. A rural ambulance service is also available to immediately transport pregnant women to hospitals when required.

Special attention is being given to children’s health. Specialist doctors are visiting camps daily, while newborns are receiving routine vaccinations. Malnourished children are being screened and treated as a priority to help improve their health.

To tackle common health issues in flood-affected communities, camps have been stocked with medicines for skin infections, stomach diseases, cholera, malaria, and insect bites. Adequate supplies of ORS, antibiotics, and other essential medicines are also available.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif emphasised that providing quality medical care during this historic flood—particularly for women and children—remains a top priority for the Punjab government.
