Punjab suspends Sehat Card facility in Public Hospitals

Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to discontinue the Sehat Card facility for free treatment in all public hospitals starting June 30. Hospitals have been directed to clear all outstanding dues before the cutoff date.
According to the official notification, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz will announce a new healthcare policy after June 30.
The Sehat Card program was initially launched in 2014 and fully implemented across Punjab by the PTI government in 2021, enabling free medical treatment for low-income citizens.
Dr. Noor-ul-Haq, head of the State Life Sehat Card Program, stated that while the facility will be discontinued in public hospitals, free medicines will still be provided, and the Sehat Card will remain valid in private hospitals.
