Punjab University Enforces Strict Dress Code, Bans Shorts on Campus

Lahore: Punjab University has announced strict enforcement of its official dress code and banned entry for anyone wearing shorts or inappropriate clothing.
According to the administration, the new measures apply to all students, staff, and even visitors. Entry to classrooms, departments, playgrounds, and residential areas will not be allowed for those wearing shorts.
The university clarified that the dress code has always existed, but due to weak implementation in recent years, casual dressing—especially shorts—became increasingly common on campus.
Officials explained that the ban aims to maintain a disciplined academic environment and align with the institution’s cultural values. They added that all faculty and security staff have been directed to ensure compliance without exception.
Students have expressed mixed reactions. Some welcomed the decision, saying it promotes discipline, while others criticised the ban as unnecessary interference in personal choice.
