Record increase in the number of women using mobile phones in Pakistan

According to the GSMA Mobile Gender Gap Report 2025, Pakistan has reduced its mobile internet gender gap from 38% to 25% — the first major drop since 2021.

This shift is driven by a sharp rise in female mobile internet users, jumping from 33% in 2023 to 45% in 2024. This is the largest increase among all surveyed countries, with rural women making up the majority of new users.

In 2024 alone, 8 million women and 5 million men came online in Pakistan, reflecting the success of inclusive digital policies led by the Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja.
