Father allegedly kills daughter in honour killing case in Sanghar

A teenage girl was allegedly killed by her father in a suspected honour killing incident in Sanghar, police said.
According to police officials, the incident took place a few days ago, during which the suspect reportedly murdered his 15-year-old daughter and buried her body inside their home to conceal the crime. The case came to light after suspicions were raised, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
Police confirmed that a formal case has been registered and an investigation is underway. Law enforcement officials said initial findings suggest the killing may be linked to so-called “honour” motives, although the exact circumstances are still being determined.
Authorities added that the suspect fled the scene after the incident and is currently on the run. Police teams have been formed to arrest him and recover further evidence from the crime scene.
The body of the victim has been taken into custody for post-mortem examination as part of the investigation process. Officials said forensic evidence and witness statements will play a key role in building the case.
Incidents of honour-based violence remain a serious concern in parts of the country, despite legal reforms and increased awareness efforts. Human rights groups have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement of laws and stronger protection mechanisms for women and girls at risk.
Police have assured that the suspect will be apprehended soon and brought to justice. Further investigation is ongoing to determine whether any other individuals were involved or aware of the crime.
