The Punjab Schools Education Department has announced that school timings changed due to air pollution across the province. Starting from Monday, schools will operate from 8:45 AM to 1:30 PM from Monday to Thursday, while on Friday, school hours will be from 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM. This decision was made to protect students and staff from the rising levels of smog and poor air quality.

Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat also confirmed the change on social media, emphasizing that the safety and health of students remain the top priority.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb stated that winds coming from India have increased air pollution in Lahore and surrounding areas. She added that several preventive measures are being taken to reduce the impact of smog on public health.

Many central areas of Punjab, including Lahore, are now experiencing severe air pollution. Outdoor air quality has become unsafe, and in some places, the Air Quality Index (AQI) has reached 810, causing concern among citizens.

Health experts have advised people to wear masks and avoid going outside unless necessary. In response to these health risks, school timings changed due to air pollution to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
