Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to depart from Islamabad for an official visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, according to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office.

The premier will travel to Jeddah, where he is expected to hold high-level meetings with Saudi leadership. A senior delegation comprising key government officials will accompany him during the visit.

The trip comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to strengthen its economic and diplomatic ties with Saudi Arabia. Officials say discussions are likely to focus on bilateral cooperation, investment opportunities, and regional developments.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share longstanding relations based on mutual cooperation in areas including trade, defence, and economic assistance. Recent engagements between the two countries have focused on enhancing investment flows and strengthening financial collaboration.

The visit also follows recent developments in Pakistan’s economic landscape, with the government working to stabilise foreign exchange reserves and secure external financing. Saudi Arabia has remained a key partner in supporting Pakistan’s economy through financial assistance and investment initiatives.

Diplomatic sources suggest that regional security issues and developments in the Middle East may also feature in the discussions. Both countries have maintained close coordination on regional matters and have often collaborated on initiatives aimed at promoting stability.

The Prime Minister’s Office said further details regarding the visit, including scheduled meetings and agreements, will be shared in due course.

Analysts view the visit as part of Pakistan’s broader efforts to deepen strategic partnerships and enhance economic cooperation with key allies in the Gulf region.
