Sri Lanka Wins T20 Thriller, Levels Series Against Pakistan

Sri Lanka defeated Pakistan by 14 runs on Sunday, leveling the T20 series 1-1. This is their first home T20 win against Pakistan in 14 years.

The match was reduced to 12 overs per side after a two-and-a-half-hour rain delay. Pakistan could only score 146 runs for eight wickets while chasing a target.

Pakistan’s captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to field first. However, the decision backfired as Sri Lanka posted a strong total.

Dasun Shanaka led the Sri Lankan batting with 34 runs off just nine balls. Janith Liyanage added 22 runs off eight deliveries. Kusal Mendis scored 30, Dhananjaya de Silva 22, and Charith Asalanka 21.

Pakistan’s chase saw Salman Ali Agha hit 45 runs off 12 balls, but his efforts were insufficient. Mohammad Nawaz scored 28, and debutant Khawaja Nafay contributed 26 runs.

Sri Lanka’s bowling was led by Wanindu Hasaranga, who took four wickets. Matheesha Pathirana claimed two, and Eshan Malinga picked up one wicket.

For Pakistan, Mohammad Wasim Jr. took three wickets but conceded 54 runs. Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, and Naseem Shah took one wicket each.
