Washington: According to the Wall Street Journal, U.S. President Donald Trump is urging a swift resolution to the conflict with Iran, aiming to conclude the dispute within four to six weeks.

The report states that Trump informed close advisers that he does not intend for the war to be prolonged and believes the conflict has already entered its final phase. The White House had originally scheduled a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping in May, anticipating that the conflict would be resolved before then.

The Wall Street Journal noted that Trump’s attention occasionally shifts to domestic political priorities, such as midterm elections and immigration policy, and that the war is diverting focus from these issues. Some allies hope the president will soon turn his attention toward other international challenges, including U.S.-Cuba relations.

Iran Denies Talks With US Amid Rising Regional Tensions

The report adds that while the U.S. is prepared for further negotiations, it is simultaneously deploying additional forces to the Middle East. Trump has considered access to Iranian oil as a potential leverage point, although no concrete plans have been implemented. Experts highlight that there is no simple path to ending the war, and peace talks remain in their early stages. The U.S. faces ongoing challenges, including the continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz, without a formal agreement or clear military victory.

U.S. Peace Proposals

Meanwhile, the Washington Post has detailed U.S. proposals to end the war. Under the proposals, Iran would receive significant sanctions relief if it removes all enriched uranium and complies with other demands. At the same time, strict restrictions would remain on Iran’s ballistic missile program. The U.S. also wants Iran to halt support for armed groups, including Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas. Officials noted that these proposals are highly sensitive, and detailed public disclosure is not being made.

The Washington Post reported that the White House dismissed earlier media reports claiming Iran had rejected the plan, stating that discussions are ongoing and no formal conclusions should be assumed. Pakistan’s offer to host indirect talks between the U.S. and Iran appears increasingly plausible, with Iran confirming that it is engaged in dialogue with its neighboring countries.

US Sends 15-Point Plan to Iran to End War

The situation remains fluid, with diplomatic and military actions continuing in tandem, as the U.S. seeks to balance rapid conflict resolution with strategic interests in the region.
