Fuel Subsidy

Islamabad : Federal government has initiated plans to provide fuel subsidies to low-income citizens amid an ongoing energy crisis.

Following government directives, the Ministry of Information Technology has developed a dedicated mobile application, currently in the testing phase.

The initiative aims to ease the financial burden on vulnerable groups affected by rising fuel prices.

According to sources, the subsidy will initially target two- and three-wheeler vehicles, while other consumers will continue to face global market-based pricing.

A final decision regarding inclusion of cars up to 800cc has not yet been made.

The proposal includes allocating up to 20 liters of petrol per month for motorcycles under the subsidy scheme.

Additionally, around 12,000 petrol pumps across the country will have designated nozzles, and each station will be equipped with mobile devices to distribute subsidized fuel through the app transparently.
