U.S. President Donald Trump threatens BBC with $1 billion lawsuit over the controversial editing of his speech in a documentary film. Trump’s legal team claims that the BBC manipulated his words, making the footage appear misleading and damaging to his reputation.

According to Trump’s lawyers, he gave the BBC until Friday to remove the film and issue an apology. If the network fails to comply, Trump plans to take legal action demanding $1 billion in damages. His team says the edited film presented a false impression of his statements.

Trump’s legal representative told the BBC to withdraw all “false, defamatory, and provocative” statements and issue a public apology. Otherwise, the broadcaster will have to face a major defamation case in court.

Meanwhile, the BBC chairman has apologized for the editing of Trump’s speech. Following the controversy, the BBC’s Director General and CEO both resigned. Reports suggest that the documentary edited parts of Trump’s January 6, 2021, speech to make it seem like he was urging his supporters to march on Capitol Hill.
