US blocks another vessel heading toward Iranian port

The United States military has stopped another vessel from heading toward an Iranian port, according to a statement issued by US Central Command (Centcom). The announcement was accompanied by images of two ships, with officials stating that the action is part of an ongoing US naval blockade.
Centcom said the move was aimed at enforcing restrictions related to maritime security operations in the region. However, details about the cargo and the exact location of the interception were not immediately disclosed.
According to maritime tracking service Marine Traffic, the vessel identified as MT Stream is an Iranian-flagged oil tanker. The development comes amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran over maritime activity and oil shipments.
Earlier, Iran’s foreign ministry had strongly condemned similar actions by US forces, accusing Washington of seizing Iranian oil tankers in international waters. A spokesperson for the ministry described the US actions as “maritime piracy” and said they were being carried out under the guise of legal justification.
The latest incident is expected to further escalate tensions in the region, particularly as both sides have exchanged strong statements in recent weeks. Iran has previously warned that it would respond to what it calls unlawful actions against its vessels.
Analysts say such developments could have broader implications for global oil supply routes, especially in strategic waterways where shipping traffic remains sensitive to geopolitical tensions.
The situation continues to be closely monitored as both countries maintain firm positions on maritime security and international law.
