WhatsApp to discontinue support for older smartphones starting January 2025

WhatsApp has announced that it will cease support for older smartphones starting from January 1, 2025. The decision, made by Meta, aims to align the messaging app with the latest technological advancements, ensuring users can enjoy a better and more secure experience with the newest features.
According to a report by HD Blog, smartphones that are unable to receive operating system updates will no longer be able to access the latest features of WhatsApp. As part of this transition, several popular smartphone models will be affected, including:

Sony Models:
- Xperia Z
- Xperia SP
- Xperia T
- Xperia V
These phones, which are at least 10 years old, will no longer be compatible with WhatsApp starting in 2025. Users of these devices will need to upgrade to newer models in order to continue using the messaging app with full functionality.
To continue using WhatsApp and benefit from the latest updates and features, users are advised to consider upgrading to newer smartphones. Additionally, it is important to ensure that your phone’s operating system is up to date in order to maintain compatibility with modern messaging applications.
