Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin Caught on Hot Mic Discussing Human Lifespan Extending to 150 Years

A private conversation between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin was unexpectedly recorded by a hot mic, in which the two leaders discussed biotechnology, organ transplants, and the possibility of humans living up to 150 years.
According to international media, the exchange took place on September 3 while Xi and Putin were walking alongside North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and other dignitaries to attend a military parade in Beijing, marking the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
During the live coverage by China’s state broadcaster CCTV, Putin’s translator was heard saying that biotechnology is advancing rapidly and that organ transplants could be performed multiple times. In response, Xi was heard remarking that some experts believe humans could live up to 150 years within this century.
The clip, which was aired live and later picked up by global news agencies including Reuters and AP, also showed Kim Jong Un smiling as he looked toward the two leaders.
Later, President Putin confirmed to reporters in Beijing that such a conversation did take place. He noted that modern medical methods and organ transplant surgeries give humanity hope that active life could continue in new ways compared to today.
During the same ceremony, President Xi addressed more than 50,000 attendees, warning that the world stands at a crossroads between peace and war. The event also featured a large-scale military parade showcasing China’s latest defence equipment.
China and Russia signed over 20 cooperation agreements, covering sectors such as energy and artificial intelligence.
