Truck Overturns on Swat Motorway, Wedding Bus Falls in River: 39 Dead in Two Tragic Accidents
MALAKAND / ASTORE – In two separate road accidents on Thursday, a total of 39 people lost their lives in devastating crashes reported from Malakand and Astore.
In the first incident, at least 13 people were killed when a speeding truck overturned on the Swat Motorway. According to motorway police, the accident was caused by overspeeding. Among the deceased were women and children, while several others sustained injuries and were taken to Batkhela Hospital for medical treatment.
DSP Noor-ul-Amin confirmed the casualties and said that the identities of the victims are yet to be confirmed.

In an earlier and even more tragic accident, 26 people died after a passenger bus carrying wedding guests from Astore (Gilgit-Baltistan) to Chakwal veered off the Thalichi Bridge and plunged into the river.
Out of the 27 people on board the coaster, only the bride, Malaika, survived the crash. She was rescued with injuries and shifted to a hospital for treatment. Rescue teams, police, and local volunteers are continuing efforts to retrieve the remaining victims.
Deputy Commissioner Astore, Muhammad Tariq, confirmed that 14 bodies have so far been recovered and moved to the Astore District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital. He added that the wrecked vehicle has also been pulled from the river.
These two devastating accidents have once again raised concerns over road safety and enforcement of traffic laws across the country.

A heartbreaking incident unfolded at the scenic Kaghan Valley, where a car skidded off the road and fell into the Kunhar River, claiming the lives of a husband and wife. Their five-year-old son miraculously survived the crash.
According to the Kaghan Development Authority, the deceased man has been identified as Jamshed, a resident of Khudro in the Attock district of Punjab. The bodies have been shifted to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Kaghan for necessary procedures.
