Two police officers were martyred in separate terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Lakki Marwat and Bannu districts on Monday. The incidents have led to widespread condemnation from both national and provincial leaders.
In Lakki Marwat, an explosion targeted a police mobile near Katukhel Adda, killing officer Alauddin and injuring three others. The police mobile was part of a convoy of security personnel, and the injured officers were rushed to a nearby hospital. Security agencies quickly cordoned off the area to carry out investigations and search for suspects.
In Bannu, another tragic incident took place when police constable Muhammad Tariq was gunned down by unidentified assailants near Sarangi Adda. Tariq was on his way to duty at the Bannu RPO office when the attack occurred. The local police have launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.
Both attacks have prompted strong responses from national leaders. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the violence and reaffirmed the government’s resolve to eradicate terrorism. He also offered condolences to the families of the martyred officers and directed medical assistance for the injured.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also condemned the attacks. He emphasized that the sacrifices made by police personnel would not go in vain. He assured that the government would continue its efforts to maintain law and order and would not be intimidated by such attacks.
