Fog-Related Accidents Kill Three, Injure Dozens in Punjab

At least three people were killed and 25 others injured in two fog-related accidents on Wednesday morning. The first incident occurred in Sadiqabad, where a bus overturned due to dense fog. Three passengers died on the spot while 20 others sustained injuries. Rescue teams quickly shifted the injured and dead to a hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
Some of the injured from the Sadiqabad accident are in critical condition, according to rescue officials. Police and emergency responders worked quickly to manage the scene and assist victims. Authorities urged drivers to be cautious due to poor visibility caused by the fog. The thick fog significantly reduced visibility on major roads in the region.
The second accident happened near Zahir Pir Interchange, where a bus also overturned. Five people were wounded in the mishap and shifted to a nearby hospital. Police and rescue teams reached the location promptly to provide assistance. Fog is being identified as the primary cause behind both road accidents.
Meanwhile, the fog has disrupted road traffic in several cities across Punjab and Sindh. Highways and motorways have been severely affected, causing delays and closures. The Motorway M2 from Lahore to Hiran Minar, M3 from Faizpur to Rajana, and M4 from Pindi Bhattial to Multan are closed. Similarly, Motorway M5 from Multan to Rohri remains closed for all vehicles.
Authorities advised motorists to avoid unnecessary travel until the fog clears. They emphasized driving slowly and using headlights in low-visibility conditions. Traffic police continue monitoring highways and providing assistance where needed. Officials warned that the fog could lead to more accidents if precautions are ignored.
