Anne Hathaway has made it clear that she has no plans to pursue a music career, despite playing a pop star in her latest film Mother Mary.

In a recent interview at a special screening in New York, the Oscar-winning actress said her musical persona will remain limited to the screen. “I can’t see that happening,” she said when asked about the possibility of becoming a singer in real life.

To prepare for her role, Hathaway worked closely with Charli XCX, who contributed to the film’s soundtrack, and choreographer Dani Vitale. She explained that their guidance helped her better understand the lifestyle and demands of being a pop star.

Hathaway described pop stars as highly skilled performers who combine physical stamina with strong stage presence. She noted that they require immense confidence and endurance to perform consistently at a high level.

However, Hathaway said her own artistic approach is different. She prefers to express herself through acting rather than performing directly as a public persona. “I like to share what’s inside of me through a filter,” she explained, adding that acting allows her to communicate emotions in a more controlled and layered way.

The actress is having a busy year, with multiple projects lined up. Alongside Mother Mary, she is also set to reprise her iconic role as Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

The sequel will reunite Hathaway with co-stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, while introducing several new cast members.

Hathaway’s latest comments suggest that while she can convincingly portray a pop star on screen, her focus will remain firmly on acting.
