Sindh Rangers, acting on intelligence-based information, have arrested a suspected gang leader allegedly involved in multiple cases of robbery, street crime, and vehicle snatching in Karachi, according to an official statement issued on Friday.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Nauman Ahmed, also known as “Papa,” son of Zahoor Ahmed. He is said to be the head of the so-called “Papa gang,” which was reportedly active in several areas of Karachi. Rangers recovered two snatched mobile phones and a motorcycle from his possession at the time of arrest.

According to the statement, the suspect and his group were involved in a large number of criminal activities, including robberies, mobile phone snatching, motorcycle thefts, firing incidents, and police encounters. These activities were reportedly carried out in Shah Faisal Colony, Korangi, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Malir, and other surrounding areas, with some operations also linked to parts of Punjab.

The Rangers claimed that the suspect may have been involved in approximately 200 to 250 robbery incidents, the snatching of 40 to 50 motorcycles, and 300 to 400 mobile phones, along with cash thefts amounting to around Rs5–6 million.

Officials further stated that the suspect had previously been injured in a police encounter in Bhains Colony and had also managed to escape during another encounter in Shah Faisal Colony. He is described as a repeat offender with a criminal history, including earlier arrests in Punjab.

Two of his alleged accomplices have already been arrested and sent to jail, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend remaining members of the gang.

The suspect has been handed over to police for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Rangers also urged citizens to report criminal activities through their helpline or WhatsApp service, assuring confidentiality of informants.
