New documentary to tell Princess Diana’s story in her own words

A new documentary series based on previously unreleased recordings of Princess Diana is set to be released in 2027, marking 30 years since her death in a tragic car crash in Paris.
The three-part series, titled Diana: The Unheard Truth, will use around five hours of recorded conversations between Diana, the late Princess of Wales, and her close confidante Dr James Colthurst, a surgeon. These recordings were originally made as part of her private discussions and later played a key role in the famous 1992 biography Diana: Her True Story by Andrew Morton.
According to producers, the upcoming documentary aims to present Diana’s life in her own words, offering a more personal and unfiltered perspective on one of the most widely discussed public figures in modern history.
Production company Love Monday TV, which is behind the project, said the series will “restore authorship” of Diana’s story and provide deeper insight into her experiences within the British royal family. The statement added that the documentary could “change public perception of Diana forever.”

The recordings are said to reveal Diana as a “resilient, perceptive, and relatable young woman” who was navigating immense global attention and pressure while trying to maintain grace, self-awareness, and determination.
Princess Diana remains one of the most iconic members of the British monarchy, with her life and legacy continuing to attract global interest decades after her death.
The upcoming documentary is expected to renew public debate about her life, her struggles within the royal family, and her lasting influence on humanitarian work and popular culture.
