PM Says Pakistan’s Nuclear Assets Exist Only For National Defense

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan’s nuclear assets are meant solely for national defense and not for aggression. Speaking during a federal cabinet meeting, he said the world recognizes Pakistan as a responsible nuclear power. Moreover, he stressed the importance of maintaining both national security and economic stability.

The prime minister said that after becoming a nuclear power, Pakistan must now focus on transforming itself into a strong economic power as well. According to him, the government remains committed to confronting all internal and external challenges facing the country. Consequently, economic recovery and national development continue to remain among the government’s top priorities.

Shehbaz Sharif stated that the region had remained under the shadow of conflict for nearly one and a half months, creating uncertainty across neighboring countries. He added that despite a temporary ceasefire, Pakistan’s economy was affected like many others in the region. Furthermore, he said the government was actively working to manage the ongoing situation.

The prime minister praised national unity during what he described as the “Battle for Truth,” saying the Pakistani nation stood together with complete solidarity. According to him, the armed forces taught the enemy a lesson that would not be forgotten. In addition, he described the role of Pakistan’s military in defending the country as a source of pride.

During the cabinet meeting, tribute was also paid to Liaqat Shaheed, who sacrificed his life while foiling a suicide attack in Attock. The prime minister described his sacrifice as highly significant for national security. As a result, the meeting also acknowledged the contributions of security forces and law enforcement agencies.

Political and defense analysts believe the prime minister’s remarks come at a time of rising regional tensions and growing security concerns.
