Ahmad Faraz’s 94th birth anniversary celebrated

Today marks the 94th birth anniversary of the legendary revolutionary poet, Ahmad Faraz. Born on January 12, 1931, in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, his real name was Syed Ahmad Shah.
Faraz earned master’s degrees in Urdu, Persian, and English literature and achieved significant recognition in Urdu poetry due to his unique style. His famous poetry collections, such as “Tanha Tanha,” “Dard-e-Ashob,” “Na-yacht,” “Shab Khon,” “Mere Khwab Riza Riza,” and “Janan Janan,” continue to resonate with readers and remain timeless.
In recognition of his invaluable contributions to Urdu literature, the government of Pakistan honored Faraz with several prestigious awards, including the Adamjee Literary Award, Sitara-i-Imtiaz, and Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
Ahmad Faraz passed away on August 25, 2008, in Islamabad due to kidney failure.
