American woman travels to Pakistan for love, falls ill

KARACHI: Onija Andrew Robbins, an American lady who gained popularity after visiting Pakistan for romantic reasons, is now sick.
Police claim that she was turned over to a social agency after hotel and guesthouse operators refused to accommodate her.
The American woman was brought to a Sharea Faisal social welfare office.
The charity organization’s head said that Robbins had been in the Tipu Sultan police station and that her lack of sleep had caused her health to worsen.
“She is like my sister and can stay here for as long as she wants,” he said, adding that plans had been made for her visit. She will be accompanied by female volunteers from the group.
This comes after Robbins complained of being tired from sitting for hours and left the parking lot of a residential building in Karachi’s Garden area to take a break.
After talking with Garden area resident Nidal Ahmed Memon, 19, on social media, the American woman, who is a mother of two, fell in love with him.
On October 11, 2024, she travelled to Karachi to marry him. Memon’s family, however, disapproved of the union.
Robbins was stuck in Karachi for months. When her visit visa expired, the Airport Security Force (ASF) turned her over to the airport police.
She later refused to leave even after receiving financial support and a return ticket to the United States from an NGO. She chose to camp in the apartment parking lot at Memon’s house instead.
The US woman has asked the local government for a $3,000 weekly payment and Pakistani citizenship.
