Asad Qaiser Urges PPP for No-Confidence, PTI Supports

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has offered its support to the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) if it moves a no-confidence motion. Former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser said PTI welcomes PPP’s “friendly fire” against the government. He urged PPP to bring the motion if serious.

This offer comes amid rising tension between PPP and the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The conflict escalated after Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made remarks that angered PPP leaders. In response, PPP lawmakers staged a walkout from the National Assembly on Friday but later returned after government persuasion.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari strongly defended Maryam Nawaz’s statements, refusing to apologize. She said Maryam Nawaz works for Punjabis’ rights and has no reason to apologize. Bukhari added that Lahore’s development is praised and Karachi should aim to be like Europe.

Bukhari also addressed the Cholistan water canal dispute. She noted that Punjab stepped back despite protests from Sindh. She urged PPP to focus on its own work and let PML-N govern. She emphasized that this is not the time for politics.

Finally, Bukhari said the Punjab government is fully empowered to aid flood-affected people. She stressed that PPP’s suggestions are advisory, not binding. She urged cooperation and focused efforts on helping those in need.
