Asim Munir meets Iranian president in Tehran

Masoud Pezeshkian has held an important meeting with Asim Munir in Tehran, marking a high-level engagement between the two countries.
The Iranian government shared photographs of the meeting on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), highlighting the significance of the discussions and the continued diplomatic and defence-level contacts between Iran and Pakistan.
During the talks, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi were also present, reflecting the broad scope of the engagement covering both security and diplomatic matters.
Earlier, Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Iran’s central Khatam al-Anbiya Headquarters, where he was received by Lieutenant General Abdollahi. The two sides discussed issues of mutual interest, focusing on regional security cooperation and bilateral relations.

In an earlier meeting during the visit, Asim Munir also met Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who emphasized Iran’s desire for “genuine and comprehensive peace” across the region. He stressed the importance of trust-building and adherence to commitments between all parties involved in regional tensions.
Ghalibaf further noted that while Iran seeks stability and peace, ongoing breaches of commitments by certain actors continue to hinder progress toward lasting solutions. He urged that past distrust be replaced with constructive actions to ensure sustainable peace in the region.
The series of high-level meetings underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to strengthen dialogue and coordination on regional security and strategic issues amid a complex geopolitical environment.
