Sindh announces strict action against exam cheating

The government of Sindh has announced strict disciplinary measures against students and examination staff involved in cheating during matriculation examinations in Karachi, following rising complaints of malpractice, paper leaks, and bribery.
Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah and Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahu issued a joint statement declaring a zero-tolerance policy on cheating in board exams. They warned that any student caught cheating will be immediately removed from the examination hall, their paper will be cancelled, and they will be barred from appearing in current and future board examinations.
Officials further stated that students found carrying mobile phones or cheating material will be disqualified on the spot. The government emphasized that strict monitoring systems will be strengthened across examination centres to ensure transparency and fairness.

In addition to action against students, authorities announced strict penalties for examination staff. Any invigilator, examiner, or administrative official found facilitating cheating will face departmental proceedings and possible dismissal from service.
The crackdown follows reports of widespread irregularities during the ongoing matriculation exams, raising serious concerns about the credibility of the examination system. Authorities have also taken legal action against individuals allegedly involved in organised cheating networks.
Earlier, a case was registered against an examination centre in-charge, Muhammad Hanif, accused of collecting Rs5,000 per student to allow cheating during exams at Grace Academy of Learning Secondary School in Quaidabad, Karachi.
According to officials, evidence including a viral video and a financial record diary has surfaced, allegedly showing payments collected from students and schools in exchange for exam malpractice. The incident has intensified calls for stronger enforcement and accountability in Pakistan’s education system.
