The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine on Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The violation occurred during a recent match where Babar expressed frustration after being dismissed. He struck the stumps with his bat, an act deemed a Level one offence by the ICC.

As a result, Babar Azam was fined 10% of his match fee and received one demerit point. The sanction follows a review by match officials who considered the act to show dissent and damage to match equipment. Babar accepted the charge and penalty, avoiding a formal hearing.

The ICC’s action comes shortly after other penalties were handed out following hearings during the Asia Cup. Pakistan’s Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan, as well as India’s Suryakumar Yadav, were also penalized for breaching the code.

Haris Rauf received a two-match suspension and was fined 30% of his match fee. He also earned two demerit points, pushing his total to four in 24 months. As a result, he faced a two-match suspension under the ICC’s demerit point system.

These incidents reflect the ICC’s ongoing commitment to maintaining discipline and professionalism within international cricket. Players are reminded to adhere to the conduct rules to uphold the integrity of the game.

Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam is on the verge of achieving two major milestones in One Day International (ODI) cricket.

As Pakistan prepares to face the West Indies in the first match of a three-game ODI series at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy today at 11:00 pm, Babar is just one century away from rewriting national history.

The 30-year-old is about to break Saeed Anwar’s record for most ODI centuries by a Pakistani. Anwar had scored 20 centuries in 247 matches and 244 innings. In comparison, Babar has already scored 19 centuries in only 131 matches and 128 innings, needing just one more to surpass the legendary opener.
