Cholistan Jeep Rally Showcases Punjab’s Cultural Revival, Marriyum Aurangzeb

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb praised Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision for promoting culture and tourism in Punjab. She said the province is witnessing a revival of cultural activities. The recent Basant celebration in Lahore, held after 25 years, brought joy to the public. Aurangzeb emphasized that restoring cultural festivals is part of Nawaz Sharif’s long-standing vision.
Speaking at the Cholistan Jeep Rally, Aurangzeb congratulated participants and highlighted the event’s international significance. Drivers from other countries also took part. She said such festivals promote heritage and create employment opportunities for local communities. Aurangzeb credited Nawaz Sharif with notable development work in the Cholistan region. She noted that Derawar Fort, once in ruins, is now being restored.
The minister said that under CM Maryam Nawaz’s leadership, historical sites across Punjab are being preserved for tourism. Events like Basant help youth connect with their culture. She added that these festivals counter the influence of foreign traditions seen online. Aurangzeb announced that the Chief Minister will personally attend next year’s Cholistan Jeep Rally.

Aurangzeb also paid tribute to ASI officers martyred during the rally. She said legislation has been initiated to protect participants in future events. She emphasized that tourism and culture must go hand in hand.
Finally, Aurangzeb highlighted the creation of a dedicated tourism authority in Punjab. This is the first systematic effort to promote the sector. She commended the tourism department for restoring Punjab’s cultural vibrancy. Events like Basant and the Cholistan Jeep Rally demonstrate the government’s commitment to heritage and tourism. Aurangzeb concluded by saying Punjab is entering a new era of cultural pride and economic opportunity.
