Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar is on a two-day visit to Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, to participate in the signing ceremony for the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
According to a press release from the Foreign Office, Mr. Dar will sign the IOMed Convention on May 30 and address the formal signing event. In addition to the ceremony, he is scheduled to hold multiple bilateral meetings with foreign dignitaries attending the event.
Pakistan is joining the IOMed as one of its founding members, highlighting the country’s commitment to international cooperation and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
“Pakistan strongly supports the goals of IOMed and sees mediation as a valuable tool for resolving international conflicts peacefully,” the Foreign Office stated.
The statement further emphasized Pakistan’s broader foreign policy approach:
“We believe that global peace, security, and prosperity are best achieved through adherence to the UN Charter, implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, and respect for international law. Mediation, dialogue, diplomacy, and collaboration form the foundation of this approach.”
