ISLAMABAD – The federal government has officially scheduled the national budget presentation for the fiscal year 2025-26 for June 10, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the Ministry of Finance.

The Economic Survey of Pakistan, which provides an overview of the country’s economic performance over the past year, will be released on June 9. The budget presentation will take place in the National Assembly.

Initially, the government had planned to present the budget on June 2. However, the date was revised amid ongoing discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over key fiscal targets.

Despite several rounds of talks, the government and the IMF have yet to reach an agreement on the budget framework. The current round of negotiations concluded today without a consensus, though discussions are expected to resume next week.

In a related development, an IMF delegation led by Jihad Azour met with President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad on Friday. The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, and senior government officials.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on Pakistan’s economic outlook and the progress of the ongoing IMF programme.
