Indus River floods low-lying areas, water rises at Kotri Barrage

The water level in the Indus River at Kotri Barrage is rising steadily. It is now in medium flood with an inflow of 421,100 cusecs. Meanwhile, water levels have dropped below flood stage at Guddu and Sukkur barrages. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely.

Floodwaters have submerged low-lying areas in Sehwan and Manjhand. Dozens of villages have also been flooded. Many residents have been forced to leave their homes for safety. Authorities are working to provide relief and keep people informed.

The river’s water has reached both sides of the railway track. There are concerns that the flooding may damage the railway infrastructure. Officials are assessing the risk and planning preventive measures. Keeping transport routes safe is a priority.

At Kotri Barrage, the inflow reached 421,100 cusecs, while the outflow was 393,600 cusecs. Upstream, Guddu Barrage recorded 163,300 cusecs inflow and 138,300 cusecs outflow. Sukkur Barrage’s inflow and outflow were 156,100 and 102,100 cusecs respectively. These figures show varying water levels across barrages.

In Punjab, the water flows of Indus, Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers have returned to normal levels. According to the Flood Forecasting Division, no immediate flood threat exists there. Authorities remain vigilant to respond to any changes in river conditions.
