Authorities in Kasur have uncovered an illegal kidney transplant operation being carried out at a private hospital, following a joint raid conducted by the District Health Authority and local police.

According to officials, the raid was carried out after receiving credible information about unlawful medical procedures taking place at the facility. During the operation, authorities discovered an ongoing attempt of illegal kidney transplantation, which is strictly prohibited under Pakistan’s human organ transplant laws without proper authorization and ethical clearance.

The health department team immediately sealed the private hospital and took two individuals into custody, who are suspected of being involved in facilitating or conducting the illegal procedure. Officials also recovered a kidney allegedly intended for transplantation, along with a female patient who had been brought to the facility for the procedure.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the illegal transplant network may have been operating under the guise of routine medical treatment, exploiting vulnerable patients and bypassing regulatory oversight. Authorities have launched a full inquiry to determine how long the operation had been functioning and whether more individuals or medical staff were involved.

A spokesperson for the District Health Authority confirmed that strict legal action will be taken against all those found responsible. “No one is above the law when it comes to illegal organ trade. Such activities not only violate medical ethics but also endanger human lives,” the official said.

Police have registered a case and further investigations are underway to trace the broader network possibly linked to organ trafficking. Authorities are also examining hospital records, staff credentials, and patient admissions to identify irregularities.

The incident has raised serious concerns about oversight in private healthcare facilities and the need for stronger enforcement of medical regulations to prevent exploitation of patients in illegal organ trade operations.
