Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem faced a tough setback at the World Athletics Championship 2025. He fell short in the men’s javelin final, missing out on a medal. Nadeem shared his disappointment on X, formerly Twitter, while thanking fans for their unwavering support. He said an injury since July affected his preparation and fitness. Despite this, he gave his best and promised to return stronger for future competitions.

Nadeem started the final with a throw of 82.73 meters. His second attempt was a foul, followed by a third throw measuring 82.75 meters. His fourth attempt was another foul, leaving him outside the top eight cut-off. This ended his chances for additional throws and a medal. Nadeem expressed pride in representing Pakistan on the world stage, despite the challenges.

India’s defending Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra finished eighth with a best throw of 84.03 meters. Chopra’s performance was below his season-best of 90.23 meters. Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago won the world title with a throw of 88.16 meters. It was his first major gold since the 2012 Olympics. Grenada’s Anderson Peters took silver, while Curtis Thompson of the United States won bronze.

The competition also saw impressive performances from Sachin Yadav of India and Germany’s Julian Weber. Yadav finished fourth with a personal best of 86.27 meters. Weber, who led the world earlier this season, underperformed with a best throw of 86.11 meters. Kenya’s 2015 world champion Julius Yego had to withdraw due to an ankle injury during his third attempt.

In conclusion, Nadeem’s injury hampered Pakistan’s medal hopes at the championship. Nevertheless, he vowed to work harder and come back stronger. His dedication continues to inspire fans and athletes alike. The championship showcased fierce competition and memorable performances from athletes worldwide.
