Iran Rejects G7 Statement as Misleading and Factually Distorted

TEHRAN: Iran has strongly rejected the recent G7 statement, calling it misleading and a distortion of facts.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said that the G7 countries’ support for the U.S.’s illegal and baseless attempt to restore expired UN Security Council resolutions is a clear violation of international law.
He added that the G7’s stance cannot change the fundamentally illegal and unjustified nature of this move.
The response came after the G7 nations urged the reimposition of past UN sanctions on Iran.
Baghaei reminded that during past negotiations, Israel, with U.S. coordination, carried out military aggression against Iran, and later, the U.S. directly attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities. In this context, he said, the G7’s claim that the U.S. and European countries pursued diplomacy in good faith is completely false.
He stressed that the United States is solely responsible for the current crisis, as it unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018, violating international law and obstructing its full implementation.
The spokesperson further stated that the three European countries followed Washington’s lead, failing to meet their commitments while backing U.S. and Israeli aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear sites.
Baghaei also accused the G7 of hypocrisy, pointing to their silence over Israel’s nuclear weapons, and said their stance on non-proliferation lacks credibility.
