Senior Pakistani news anchor Ishrat Fatima

Senior Pakistani news anchor Ishrat Fatima has opened up about one of the most painful experiences of her life, sharing that she still feels deep guilt over the loss of her daughter.

In a recent interview with Tauseeq Haider, she spoke candidly about her personal struggles and emotional journey. Ishrat Fatima revealed that during her childhood, she was very insecure about her skin tone and would often complain and even cry about it.

When asked if she now feels proud of her complexion, she responded that she does not feel pride, but instead expresses gratitude. According to her, pride is a big word, but she has learned to accept herself.

She also credited her husband, Saqib, for supporting her through these insecurities. She now prefers a simple lifestyle and uses minimal makeup, usually just lipstick and kohl.

Recalling the most heartbreaking moment of her life, she shared that her first daughter passed away shortly after birth. She regretfully admitted that her first question at the time was about her daughter’s complexion—something that still haunts her today.

Ishrat Fatima said that whenever she visits the graveyard, she goes to her daughter’s grave and asks for forgiveness, feeling that perhaps she was not a good enough mother.

She also criticized societal attitudes toward appearance and color, saying people often hurt others with their words and try to move ahead by putting others down. She emphasized that such behavior should not exist in a compassionate society.
