KP Government to Auction Fancy Number Plates Named After Political Figures

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction fancy vehicle number plates bearing the names of prominent political and national figures, including President Asif Ali Zardari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and the founder of PTI.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Fakhar Jahan, while speaking to Geo News, said that the auction of fancy and unique choice number plates will be held on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.
According to Fakhar Jahan, bidding for the fancy number plates will start from Rs 1 million, and the highest bidder will be allotted the number plate of their preferred political or national personality.
He added that in phases, number plates named after other national leaders, renowned personalities, regions, and ethnic groups will also be included in future auctions.

The provincial minister said that vehicle owners are showing keen interest in the auction process, which is expected to generate significant revenue for the national exchequer.
The Excise and Taxation Department stated that citizens have already begun submitting applications through the Dastak App, and an official advertisement regarding the auction has been issued.
According to the department, the deadline for submitting applications is January 26, 2026, while participation in the auction will be facilitated through the designated digital platform.
