LAHORE – Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry had his interim bail extended until January 9 by an anti-terrorism court. The extension was granted by the court’s administrative judge, Manzoor Ali Gill, during a hearing of multiple cases against Chaudhry.
Chaudhry, whose interim bail was set to expire, failed to appear in court. His lawyers submitted a one-day exemption request, stating that he was unwell and admitted to a hospital. The court accepted the exemption and granted him a pass for the day’s hearing.
However, the judge instructed Chaudhry’s lawyers to present arguments regarding the bail at the next hearing. Fawad Chaudhry is facing several serious charges, including inciting violence, arson, and vandalism. He is accused of provoking his supporters to damage public property.
Multiple cases have been filed against the former minister. Among these are three cases related to the burning of police vehicles near Jinnah House. Additionally, he faces charges for an attack at Club Chowk in the GOR Gate area and another for burning police vehicles in Mughalpura.
These cases were registered at various police stations, including Sarwar Road, Race Course, and Mughalpura. The court will next hear arguments regarding his bail on the scheduled date in January.
