Malaysia Honors Shehbaz Sharif with Honorary PhD for National Service
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been conferred an honorary doctorate by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in recognition of his distinguished service to the nation and his leadership in governance.

According to Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama, the ceremony took place at IIUM’s Kuala Lumpur campus, where the Prime Minister was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Leadership and Governance.

Wearing a blue academic gown, Shehbaz Sharif called the honor a “moment of great pride and gratitude.” He thanked Pahang’s Queen, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, who also serves as the university’s constitutional head, for attending the event.

Reflecting on his career, the Prime Minister said he had devoted more than four decades to serving the people of Punjab and now, as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, continued his work with sincerity and integrity.

He expressed happiness over being connected with one of the Muslim world’s most respected educational institutions, emphasizing that leadership is not a privilege but a sacred trust that demands honesty, justice, and accountability before God.

Shehbaz Sharif voiced hope that his visit would enhance academic collaboration between IIUM and Pakistan’s higher education institutions. He also urged Muslim nations to remain steadfast in moral and ethical principles to overcome challenges such as poverty, division, and conflict.

Earlier, the Prime Minister held multiple meetings with his Malaysian counterpart, Anwar Ibrahim, focusing on revitalizing bilateral cooperation and exploring opportunities within the ASEAN economic framework.
