Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has said that when she first entered politics, her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, was hesitant about her decision. However, she expressed confidence that today he would be proud of her achievements.

Speaking at a session with participants of the 55th Staff Course at Pakistan Navy War College, Maryam Nawaz praised the Pakistan Navy for its significant role in rescue and relief operations during floods. She commended the force for its service and dedication to the nation.

Highlighting the importance of empowering women, the Chief Minister said: “Give daughters opportunities, confidence, and courage, and they will progress and succeed.” She urged people to vote for service and work rather than those who divide the nation.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized her commitment to making Punjab safer for women. She noted that, as the province’s first female Chief Minister, she has broken traditional norms, promoted new approaches, and worked harder than her male counterparts to prove her leadership.

Reflecting on her political journey, she said: “My father was initially reluctant about my entry into politics, but as I learned and grew in political affairs, I believe he now feels proud of me.”
