Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Indian government is once again facing accusations of religiously motivated retaliation. In recent days, thousands of Muslim families have reportedly been forcibly evicted and their homes demolished. International news outlet TRT has released a detailed report and video footage exposing the dire conditions faced by the affected Muslim communities.

According to TRT, the demolition operations have primarily targeted areas densely populated by Muslims, while Hindu homes in the same neighbourhoods were left untouched. Sources claim that over 7,000 homes have been razed under the guise of removing “illegal encroachments”, with the majority belonging to Muslim families.

In Ahmedabad’s Chandola Lake area, the bulldozer operation has rendered thousands of Muslims homeless, now living under open skies. Among the destroyed properties is the home of Mohammad Chand, a resident pleading for justice after his house was reduced to rubble.

Analysts argue that these actions go beyond routine anti-encroachment measures and are part of a broader anti-Muslim agenda driven by the Hindutva ideology. Defence and political experts suggest that, following recent setbacks with Pakistan, the Modi government is directing its frustrations inward, against its Muslim citizens. Many compare the situation to the 2002 Gujarat riots, suggesting history may be repeating itself.
