Most Post-Flood Aid Still Undelivered, Says Pakistan’s High Commissioner to UK
LONDON: Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, has said that despite international pledges, most of the financial assistance promised to Pakistan after the 2022 floods has not yet been released.

In an article published in a British news outlet, Dr. Faisal highlighted that Pakistan required $16.3 billion for post-flood rehabilitation but the majority of the funds have yet to materialize.

He stressed that Pakistan will need $152 billion by 2030 for climate adaptation, adding that developing countries are forced to divert resources from essential sectors like education, health, and development toward emergency relief efforts.

Dr. Faisal urged developed nations to fulfill and expand their annual $100 billion climate finance commitment, emphasizing that the assistance should come in the form of grants and concessional loans, not high-interest debt.

He also called for the immediate operationalization of the Loss and Damage Fund established during COP28, saying that countries like Pakistan, which are on the front lines of climate disasters, cannot afford further delays.
