Muslim Nations Demand Gaza Aid

ISTANBUL: Foreign ministers from Pakistan and several Arab and Islamic countries gathered in Istanbul to discuss the situation in Gaza. The meeting focused on the fragile U.S.-brokered ceasefire, amid accusations that Israel had violated its terms. The leaders also discussed the urgent need for Gaza’s reconstruction and humanitarian aid for Palestinians.

Turkey, which played a key role in brokering the ceasefire, has urged Muslim nations to support Gaza’s rebuilding efforts. The country called on the international community to use its influence to ensure aid reaches those in need. The ceasefire, which is now three weeks old, remains tenuous due to ongoing violations by Israel.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, participated in the talks, reaffirming Pakistan’s stance on Palestine. The meeting emphasized the importance of a lasting ceasefire and sustainable peace in Gaza. Pakistan also called for the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Occupied Palestinian Territories and for urgent humanitarian aid to be provided.

The leaders of the participating countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Jordan, Indonesia, and Turkey, also discussed the possibility of deploying a monitoring force. This force could help oversee the implementation of the ceasefire and ensure that Israel adheres to the terms of the agreement. The summit underscored the importance of international cooperation for peace and stability in the region.

During the summit, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan expressed concern over Israel’s consistent ceasefire violations. He emphasized that Israel must allow sufficient aid into Gaza and fulfill its obligations under the truce agreement. The meeting concluded with a commitment to push for a sustainable peace agreement and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
