The government of Pakistan has accelerated efforts to build an artificial intelligence-driven economy by launching a nationwide upskilling initiative titled “AI Seekho 2026”.

The programme has been introduced by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in collaboration with Google, Telenor Pakistan and InnoVista. It aims to equip young people with modern digital skills and prepare them for emerging opportunities in the global tech landscape.

Under the initiative, participants will receive practical training in artificial intelligence tools and technologies. The programme also seeks to connect learners with platforms such as National Incubation Centers and the Pakistan Startup Fund, enabling access to entrepreneurship and employment opportunities.

Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja said the government has introduced the Digital Nation Pakistan Act to provide a comprehensive roadmap for digital transformation. She added that artificial intelligence has been declared a national priority, with the formulation of the country’s first National AI Policy.

According to the minister, the government aims to train one million young people in AI, including individuals from non-technical backgrounds. As part of the programme, more than 100,000 developers will be upskilled in collaboration with Google.

Officials said the initiative will provide access to certifications, advanced tools, and hands-on training, enabling participants to compete in the international digital economy. The programme is also expected to strengthen Pakistan’s startup ecosystem and promote innovation.

The launch of “AI Seekho 2026” reflects a broader push to integrate technology into economic planning and create a skilled workforce capable of driving future growth.
